“Because the wild does not wait for those who mourn the ghosts of their own certainty.“ I want that tattooed on my FACE. 😂😂😂ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
I applaud this brilliant, sharp piece with excellent cohesive writing, nothing less expected with your Ivy League brain, as you skillfully navigate the seas of your own extinction bursts.
The difference between animals and humans, unconscious and conscious is that we must go through this process painfully aware of what is happening in our animal bodies on an intellectual level.
We must endure conscious pain and conscious repatterning. We must be grateful for our capacity to do this, because it allows us to achieve greatness and unlock the technology of both our animal and conscious minds.
Atara, thank you so much for your thoughtful and kind reflection. Though I think your beautiful face need not be marked with ink, I do think you wear a resolute look of embracing that which lives and that which dies (which are one in the same, separate by a certain number of eye blinks, breaths, and lovers if you’re lucky).
Right, I see. The pain comes from the intellect, from awareness itself. Totally. I thought this watching walruses on Planet Earth the other day... They never question their role in the wild-- they just do it. Awareness of the cold, of the struggle, of the violence, would lead to. misery. Letting existence end there allows for peace.
"We must endure conscious pain and conscious repatterning." YES. Growing pains.
Speaking to my soul: "I don’t quite have the appetite for the unknown these days. It literally makes me nauseous (that body don’t lie!) thinking about the potential of what my life can become."
"Because the wild does not wait for those who mourn the ghosts of their own certainty.
Tears rolling down my face connecting to your words and the moment you are in, the unknowns are washing me away on a daily basis and this is my reminder to stand tall and keep going. Thank you.
Wow! Thank you SO much for taking the time to read this and sharing your experience/connection.
PLEASE stand tall! PLEASE keep going! PLEASE dig deep to hear the voices in you (however quiet right now) who want this life at this time, to see this thing through <3 Bless you Karly!
Very astute and well said. Thanks. My reflection is that pattern breaking is so difficult in a society that wants us all to be slaves to the patterns it helped create. We are both punished (too harshly) and rewarded (too generously) for our various patterns. The only way that has helped me has been lots of love, belonging to various communities, and lots of travel. Travel allows us to see other people's patterns and ways of being. To notice the folly our own patterns. There is no correct way to be. In a new place, it's often easier for other parts of ourselves to come out. A curious traveler creates a muscle of "flexible thinking" beyond thought patterns weak and strong.
If not, I really think you'd love it. I'm reading it now and have been thinking about you throughout it. I recognize your goddess energy through it. Your fierceness and confidence as you push yourself through all the "stuff."
This is Circe's journey too. Innately glorious and refusing to be diminished even by the patterns that continue to dog her.
As always, I feel so seen by you. It's funny: at a party over the summer, someone asked me if I was a side-quest on a video game, what would I be... My immediate response was some mystical creature on an island where the main character ends up. We have intimate connection on many levels, transcendent and also deep, playful and profound, and then I send them on their merry way having found their voice. Upon retrospect, I've completely internalized the plot of Circe. I suppose I have a kink for connection, baby ;).
The thing Circe lacks is community. The one she was born into, the one of Titans and gods, suits her not for it is still based on hubris (ego+gods=egods-- egad!). I am in a stage personally when I'm realizing the power of lateral community (i.e. friends) as opposed to vertical (i.e. parents). WOAH-- is there so much love!!!!
Reading, too, is a way of traveling without traveling, transcending while remaining down-to-earth. Your poetry puts me in your perspective, and what a joyous experience, a true blessing, that is. Thank you.
Thank you for reading, commenting, and generally supporting. Here for you and all your thoughts/feels/actions.
